Social Commitment

As a responsible corporate citizen, NSPCL plants are operated and maintained in a manner that results in keeping emissions and effluents from the plant within the norm.

One of the by-products of fossil fuel fired thermal power plants is generation of ash. With higher concentration of ash in the coal being fired, it is a challenge to find a viable solution to this problem. After taking over of three stations by NSPCL, measures have been taken to maximize utilization of fly ash. All these units are more than 19 years old and did not have provision for dry ash disposal. Accordingly, necessary steps have been taken to retrofit the existing system with new equipment to enable fly ash evacuation and disposal in dry condition. In Bhilai, contract has already been signed with a cement manufacturing company for using the fly ash from the plant. Fly ash to this company is being given free.

Extensive tree plantation measures are major thrust in all the plants. Additional plantation is under progress at Bhilai Expansion Project site.
